Overview
To support the extrusion shift with all repairs covering a wide range of equipment, services, systems and buildings associated with the running of a large blown film extrusion manufacturing site.
Qualifications
1. HNC or Degree level qualification in an Engineering discipline.
2. Proven track record in production engineering
3. Excellent IT skills are essential
Hours: 4 shifts on 4 shifts off. 18 day break after every 7 sets.
Responsibilities
4. Fixing machine faults occurring as part of the normal shift activity.
5. Fast response to line breakdowns affecting production and liaising extensively with the Extrusion Shift Manager.
6. Carrying out preventative maintenance activities and routine safety inspections.
7. Fault finding and diagnostics in reactive breakdown or planned situations.
8. Planned preventative maintenance on a variety of production machinery to include extruders and site services.
9. Ensure all breakdowns are dealt with promptly and efficiently whilst ensuring that all PPM schedules are maintained.
10. Support project development
11. Follow and encourage stringent HSE and standard company practices.
12. Fully engage with the operations team to provide proactive support to the plant and equipment, maximising production output.
13. Practice continuous improvement and pro-activeness for improved ways of working offering possible solutions
14. Perform maintenance tasks as part of planned maintenance or as directed by the Engineering Manager.
15. Respond promptly to any unplanned maintenance issues or repairs to ensure minimum down time
16. Demonstrate tenacity in approach to incident management and actively pursue investigations to identify root causes
17. Understand importance of preventative maintenance schedules and prioritise activities to efficiently use resources
18. Use initiative and confidently make sound decisions quickly based on knowledge, experience and best practice
19. Effectively involve specialists to resolve complex issues
20. Understand the importance of accurate and clear written records, maintaining documentation to a high standard
21. Providing a written report on a shift basis.
Skills & Experience
22. Flexible, highly motivated and driven with the ability to prioritise own workload, possess strong intellect, good logical fault finding analysis capabilities and who can demonstrate the ability to make decisions and empower people to drive actions forward. Results orientated, with ability to deliver results in a rapidly changing environment. Excellent attention to detail.
23. Will have a time served apprenticeship (or equivalent) and have a recognised qualification in a related discipline (or equivalent)
24. Possess excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills and be a confident team player.
25. Experience of working in a production maintenance environment is essential for this role.
