About The Role
UNLOCK YOUR BEST WORK LIFE
+ MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO EVERY LIFE
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mental Health Nurse role at HMP Lewes to join our team. HMP Lewes is a category B male prison, based near the centre of the historical town of Lewes, just a 5 minute walk away.
Due to HMP Lewes holding remand prisoners, we require staff to work on a rota basis, including nights, bank holidays, and weekends. If you are looking for flexibility, we can discuss this at the interview stage.
You'll receive an annual salary up to £52,507 per annum - depending on experience.
How will we support you?
* Bespoke induction, including our Introducing Health in Justice training course
* Competency framework
* Regional and national career development opportunities
* Our bespoke Learning Management System to address your learning needs
* Support from the wider team
Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK, and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.
What you'll be doing
As a Senior Mental Health Nurse, you will lead a multi-disciplinary team to deliver a nurse-led service and prevent hospital admissions:
* Undertake medication rounds and dispense controlled medication
* Attend emergency response situations
* Assess patients and undertake reception screening
* Assess patients' health needs using an evidence-based framework and conduct risk assessments using sound clinical knowledge
* Ensure assessment of physical and mental health of prisoners on admission and throughout their custody
* Make clinical judgments regarding immediate needs and long-term treatment
What we'll look for in you
Practice Plus Group is a specialist provider of NHS services into prison healthcare across over 45 different prisons, young offenders, and immigration removal centres. We believe in putting the patient first, regardless of the environment or their history. The prison population is one of the most vulnerable and challenged patient groups in society, and the delivery of their health care is conducted within often difficult and demanding environments.
You will be a qualified Registered Nurse (Mental Health) with a passion for developing your clinical skills in an ever-changing environment. You'll have a flexible approach and work within a team that encourages new ideas and opinions on how to improve the service. You will have experience in clinical management or be ready to take the next step in your career towards leading a team of clinical professionals.
If you share these values and have transferable skills, we want to meet you!
