Job Overview:
Amber Mace are working with an independent care provider based in the Birmingham area who are looking for a Registered Nursing Home Manager to join the team at one of their medium sized nursing homes. The home specializes in elderly care, dementia care, and residential care. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the home’s operations, ensuring the highest standards of care and compliance with regulatory requirements, while fostering a supportive and positive environment for both residents and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage the overall operation of the nursing home, ensuring that the highest standards of care are provided to elderly residents, including those with dementia, and residential care needs.
* Develop and implement care plans tailored to individual residents' needs, ensuring a person-centred approach to care.
* Ensure the home meets and exceeds regulatory requirements, including maintaining CQC standards, health and safety, safeguarding, and other statutory obligations.
* Lead, motivate, and develop a dedicated team of care staff, nurses, and support personnel, ensuring training, professional development, and adherence to best practices.
* Manage day-to-day operations, including staffing, budgeting, and resource allocation, to ensure a smooth and efficient running of the home.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with residents, their families, and external healthcare professionals, ensuring a collaborative approach to care.
* Monitor and assess the quality of care being delivered, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions as necessary.
* Conduct regular audits of care plans, medication management, health and safety, and other operational areas to ensure compliance and quality assurance.
* Lead the home’s efforts to ensure a warm, supportive, and homely environment, where residents feel valued and respected.
* Manage admissions, discharges, and the smooth transition of new residents into the home, ensuring their comfort and well-being.
* Oversee the preparation and submission of reports, including CQC documentation, staffing records, and financial reports.
* Lead by example, promoting a culture of respect, compassion, and professionalism throughout the home.
Key Requirements:
* Proven experience in a senior management role within a nursing home environment, preferably with experience in elderly care, dementia care, and residential care.
* A registered nurse with valid NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) registration (RN, RMN, or RGN).
* Strong understanding of CQC regulations and the care inspection process.
* Excellent leadership skills with the ability to inspire, manage, and develop a team of healthcare professionals.
* Sound financial management skills, including budgeting, cost control, and resource allocation.
* A compassionate and empathetic approach to caring for elderly residents and those with dementia.
* Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with staff, residents, families, and external stakeholders.
* Knowledge and experience in creating person-centred care plans and delivering quality care.
* Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
Desirable:
* A management qualification, such as a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care or equivalent.
* Experience in achieving or maintaining a Good or Outstanding CQC rating.
* Previous experience in the elderly care sector, specifically in dementia care or residential care.
