Position: Preconstruction Engineer – Marine and Tunnels Location: SZC Project Office / London Department: MT – Pre-Construction Reporting to: Pre-Construction Manager – Marine and Tunnels About the Role: We are seeking a skilled Preconstruction Engineer to lead preconstruction activities for the Marine and Tunnels scope within the Sizewell C project. Your role will be pivotal in developing the strategy for safely and cost-effectively delivering the Marine and Tunnels scope, which includes two intake tunnels, one outfall tunnel, offshore connections, and support works. You will coordinate with team members to manage the Target Outturn Cost (TOC) process and ensure all preconstruction activities and site readiness deliverables align with the broader project goals. Key Responsibilities: Prepare preconstruction work scope documents and strategies in line with the Programme Execution Plan (PEP). Maintain effective communication with stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution. Develop and manage the preconstruction List of Deliverables (LOD) to ensure timely, budget-conscious, and safe delivery. Track progress against milestones and provide reports to key stakeholders. Coordinate with the Risk Team to identify and manage risks and opportunities. Produce contractor applications for payment as needed. Apply continuous improvement principles, integrating lessons learned from Hinkley Point C and other projects. Interface with other programmes to ensure best practices are adopted across the project. Knowledge & Skills: Proven track record of delivering projects throughout their lifecycle in complex and dynamic environments, preferably in the Nuclear Energy sector. Strong skills in engineering design, methods, contract management, and project delivery strategies. Experience in procurement and managing contracts, as well as controlling costs, risks, schedules, and changes. Excellent communication, presentation, influencing, and facilitation skills. Strong numerical and analytical skills with a good understanding of technical delivery aspects of the scope. Qualifications & Experience: A degree in civil engineering or a related field. Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, with significant experience in preconstruction stages. Familiarity with managing sub-contractors, consultants, and advisors in large and complex projects. NEC contract experience is desirable. Valid CSCS card and completion of the Management of Temporary Works Course and SMSTS or equivalent.
