Randstad is partnering with Knowsley Local Authority to recruit an experienced Duty Social Worker for a high-paying locum opportunity at £44.48 per hour. This is a fantastic opportunity for social workers with strong safeguarding experience to join a dedicated team and play a vital role in responding to referrals, conducting assessments, and supporting families.
As a Duty Social Worker, you will respond to referrals from MASH (Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub) and carry out assessments within the statutory 45-day timescale. You'll be responsible for identifying the needs of children and families, working with them to offer appropriate support, and implementing care plans. The role involves managing cases until they either step down or step up to an Initial Child Protection Conference (ICPC), at which point they will transfer to the longer-term assessment service.
You will have the flexibility to work both from home and the office (preferably 2 days a week in the office or full-time if on duty). Additionally, you will work 1 week in every 4 on duty.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Respond to referrals from MASH and undertake assessments within a 45-day time-frame, ensuring all statutory requirements are met.
2. Work with children and families to develop and implement support plans, offering resources and solutions to meet their needs.
3. Handle a varied caseload, including Section 47 enquiries, Child in Need (CIN) assessments, and short-term planning.
4. Work collaboratively with multi-agency professionals to support children and their families, ensuring effective communication and coordination.
5. Manage cases on a short-term basis until they either step down or progress to an Initial Child Protection Conference (ICPC).
6. Demonstrate effective communication skills and a strong understanding of safeguarding procedures.
Requirements:
7. Qualified social worker with registration to Social Work England.
8. Demonstrable experience in safeguarding and working with children and families, including handling complex cases such as Section 47 enquiries and CIN.
9. Knowledge of the Signs of Safety model is desirable but not essential.
10. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with multi-agency teams.
11. Ability to work both independently and as part of a duty team.
