The Opportunity As the next Operations Services Engineer, you will be a valued member of the Torness station, ensuring the daily operations of the station run smoothly and offer best performance possible. You will be responsible for the safe and reliable operations of a nuclear power plant, in accordance with all licenses, regulatory bodies and industry best practices. Pay, Benefits and Culture We can offer a competitive salary with a range of £ 44,112 - £92,778; with terms and conditions covered by the EDF Nuclear Generation Company Agreement. However, the starting salary for this appointment will be within the range of £44,112 to £78,541 dependant on the successful candidate’s competence, experience and qualifications. What you’ll be doing Being appointed into this position, you will be required to do the following to ensure the daily operations of the station run smoothly: Provide technical support to the Operations Manager and shift organisation Ensure that all department activities are carried out with full regard to site licence requirements, statutory regulations, company and local directives, procedures and Safety Rules Monitor and trend specific Nuclear Reactor parameters and take actions to maintain performance within the optimal range Ensure Operating procedures are fit for purpose by undertaking periodic or event based reviews and raising any necessary document amendments Perform activities both within Operation Services and between the section and the shift teams Contribute to Organisational Learning by routinely raising condition reports and evaluating fleet events and OPEX to assess the need for intervention/ improvement at shift and departmental level Ensure that problems, including events and equipment deficiencies, are tracked, investigated, and reviewed periodically for timely resolution Who you are As a minimum, entrants will have a relevant HNC (or equivalent). Candidates with a relevant Degree may have an advantage. Experience in Operations or Engineering may also be an advantage. As the next Operations Services Engineer, you will demonstrate a proven track record of working to demanding safety standards, appreciating the value and use of human error prevention tools to ensure safe and efficient working. With excellent verbal and written communication skills and a positive attitude to supporting continuous improvement, you will bring a high level of self-motivation, drive and 'can do' attitude that focuses on safe and reliable operations Your excellent interpersonal and team working skills will bring a pro-active approach to work, that influences and motivates others, establishing and maintaining effective stakeholder relationships. Applicants will be required to obtain CTC level vetting prior to taking up their duties. To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least 3 of the last 5 years.
