Woodland Group are recruiting an Accounts Payable Manager to join our team at our Head Office in Chelmsford, Essex.
Reporting to the Finance Manager and working closely with the Global Accounts Team, the Accounts Payable Manager will be responsible for a small team of AP clerks, overseeing supplier relations, invoice queries and reconciliation for several UK and overseas based suppliers on the purchase ledger.

About the role:
1. Ensure purchase invoices are accurately processed in a timely manner;
2. Supervise and manage the Accounts Payable function;
3. Resolve all invoice and payment queries with the Accounts Payable department, working with both internal and external stakeholders;
4. Manage the AP team’s performance appraisals, individual development, and absence management;
5. Ensure all accounts payable tasks are completed in line with month end deadlines;
6. Review the purchase ledger on a monthly basis ensuring allocations have been completed correctly and investigating any balance queries;
7. Manage and implement AP department process improvement and have demonstrable previous process improvement history;
8. Drive banking/payment and system improvement to ensure team efficiency;
9. Generate daily, weekly ad hoc payment runs as necessary;
10. Monitor Accounts Payable mailbox to ensure requests are dealt with in a timely manner;
11. Experience with foreign currency payments/exchange rates;
12. Build and maintain external and internal relationships;
13. Any other duties as required by management for the smooth and efficient operation of the department;
14. Work with the Finance team to continually improve processes and business performance;
15. Support changes in the role necessary to take the department and business forward;
16. Work to achieve personal objectives set at appraisal and/or those set monthly or quarterly;
17. Ensure team have appropriate objectives and are regularly reviewed;
18. Achieving agreed individual objectives; and understanding and adhering to all Woodland policies and procedures relevant to the role.
Personal Specification
1. You have previous experience as an Accounts Payable Manager, ideally within a high transaction environment;
2. You have experience in successful implementation of new systems and processes;
3. You have advanced MS Excel skills;
4. You are well organised, prioritising and working within key deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
5. You have the ability to work thoroughly, methodically with excellent attention to detail;
6. You can work collaboratively with other members of the team as well as key stakeholders across the group;
7. You have the natural ability and enjoy building and maintaining strong working relationships;
8. You excel in a team environment as well as being able to work autonomously when required;
9. You are flexible, adaptable, and open-minded and respond well to the ever-changing priorities and challenges while remaining calm and focused on getting the job done;
10. You are proactive looking at ways to improve processes and have the initiative to put them forward and where possible into practice;
11. You actively seek ways to enhance your knowledge and improve your performance;
12. You are self-motivated, have huge drive and ambition – you thrive off achieving great success and helping to build a great place to work!
