Job Overview
* To work as a member of the team to deliver direct patient assessment and care under the direction of senior staff members in Ophthalmology.
* To liaise with other optical care assistants, visual fields technicians, health care assistants, Orthoptists, Optometrists, Ophthalmologists, Nursing staff, and other health professionals.
* To provide technical support to the Ophthalmology service and ensure that diagnostic tests are carried out in a timely and accurate manner.
Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
* To carry out Ophthalmology specific diagnostic testing and assessment; visual acuity, intraocular pressure (IOP), field of vision (VF/Goldmann), scans on OCT/Heidelberg, OPTOS, Biometry, Pentacam, and other newly introduced equipment in the department.
* Be able to identify change and escalate if notice significant change/deterioration in patients' visual acuity, scans, or VF.

Essential criteria
* Ophthalmology knowledge and experience.
* Knowledge and experience of working in surgical areas.
Desirable criteria
* NVQ.
* Able to do cannulation, blood test, and ECG.
