Higher Level Maternity Support Worker - Maternity Triage
We are recruiting for Maternity Support Workers who share our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.
As a Maternity Support Worker, you will work directly with patients and babies, assisting with their clinical care within various specialist and integrated teams, including theatres, fetal medicine, and community hubs. You'll be an integral part of our multidisciplinary teams, providing vital support to ensure the safety and comfort of both mothers and newborns.
You would be required to work days, nights, weekends & bank holidays.

Main duties of the job
1. Ensure effective communication with colleagues, patients, and their families.
2. Promote individualised care, specific to the needs of the patient and their family, acting as an advocate within the multidisciplinary team in the absence of the midwife.
3. Work under the supervision of the designated midwife and as part of a multidisciplinary team to undertake direct care and appropriate interventions to maximise a positive client experience and promote the physical and mental health and wellbeing of the patient and baby.
4. Participate in the collection and recording of written and electronic data, in line with Trust guidelines and policies.
5. Work in partnership with clients and professionals both internally and externally to the Trust to provide an effective network of care for the clients in their care.
6. Act as an advocate for the department, promoting respectful and flexible team working across areas.
Person Specification
Qualifications/Training
* Basic education
* Care certificate
* GCSE Grades A-C or equivalent in English and Maths
* NVQ level 2 or equivalent
* Minimum level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy
Previous Experience
* Previous experience in healthcare setting
* Previous experience in midwifery setting
* Previous experience working in a team
Skills
* Ability to communicate in a variety of settings with service users and their families, with varying levels of understanding
* Self-motivated
* Flexibility and team participation
* Basic IT skills - ability to use keyboard or willingness to develop
* Understanding of quality and change in the clinical setting
* Familiar with Microsoft Office
Knowledge
* Understanding of the requirements of the role
* Understanding of NHS issues
