Care Assistant/ Companion for a person P/T @ £12.50/hr in Bury St. Edmunds - IP32
Companion/ Personal Assistant Required
We are seeking a companion/ personal assistant for a 63-year-old female with FrontoTemporal Dementia and subsequently Primary Progressive Aphasia. Note this person is still independent and can participate in many activities but needs additional support to keep active.
Key Interests Include:
1. Walking
2. Running
3. Sewing
4. Crafts
5. Gardening
6. Baking
We are looking for an outgoing, friendly companion who shares the above interests and is able to plan activities and go out during the week. The person we are seeking support for is calm and happy.
Patience and a calm persona are important. The primary progressive aphasia means comprehensive language is challenging, but it is important to note that information is usually understood clearly, while the expressive response may be unclear.
An ideal candidate would also be able to assist with any required tasks that may include household admin, food shopping, and ironing.
Please note that FrontoTemporal Dementia in 'younger' adults presents different symptoms and should not be compared to Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia in the elderly. There has not been any frustration, anger, or violence.
