SRE Practice Manager
Post Trade Technology Engineering & Architecture (PTT E&A) is a central function that operates horizontally across the 2000 technologists delivering business solutions within Post Trade Technology. Within that function, the software delivery modernization team simplifies and accelerates the adoption of cloud computing technologies by developing standards, tools and frameworks promoting best practices, simplifying compliance with cyber and controls standards and lowering the barrier to entry for new technologies.
We’re looking for a Vice President to drive our efforts in Capacity Management and to participate in the development of a Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practice across PTT working as part of the PTT E&A Technical Architecture team. This program will drive a more comprehensive approach to application health monitoring and alerting, and proactive capacity management across Post Trade, by utilizing the standard tooling made available for the firm such as AppMon, Grafana, Prometheus, Satori, and Capalytics.
You will spend the majority of your time working closely with the technical architects, application owners, production management and engineers across our most critical systems providing guidance and expertise to accelerate the implementation of standard capacity management and SRE practices and tooling across our estate. The remaining time will be spent assisting with standards and patterns as well as partnering with engineers on evaluations and early adoptions.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Drive Standards, Policies, Architecture patterns and tooling choices for PTT capacity management and SRE Tooling working in partnership with the CIB E&A, Production Management and Engineering and Architecture leads across Post Trade.
2. Provide expertise and guidance to PTT technologists as they adopt the standards, policies and architectural patterns.
3. Partner with E&A colleagues across the CIB to ensure PTT is appropriately aligned to the CIB and the broader Global Technology standards providing feedback and helping drive solutions that meet Post trade needs.
4. Perform deep dives on applications and their production management teams, compliance to capacity management and SRE standards, assisting teams to resolve blockers with the utilization of standard tooling and practices.
5. Organise and drive evaluations of candidate tooling with PTT teams and guide early adopters of chosen solutions.
6. Partner with PTT Capacity Management Program management group to ensure prioritised applications meet their stated goals and timelines within agreed design and implementation principles.
Qualifications:
1. Experience delivering and supporting complex interconnected application estates.
2. Able to take a hands-on approach building or driving technical solutions as needed within the group.
3. Experience of Production Management standards and approaches to monitoring alerting and capacity management.
4. Experience with JP Morgan tools like Geneos and AppMon.
5. Ability to gather data from multiple sources and aggregate to provide meaningful metrics.
6. Ability to collaborate with the product teams and engineers to understand and develop solutions that meet business requirements.
7. Ability to lead discussions in a matrix environment focusing on team and organizational success.
8. Ability to solve problems creatively and effectively.
9. Strong work ethic, self-starter who is creative with a 'can-do' attitude.
