Quick Staff UK is pleased to be recruiting a Factory Manager for an established food manufacturing business based in the Blackwood area of south Wales. Reporting directly to the Operations Director, the Factory Manager will be responsible for overseeing the physical operation over two fast-growing nutritional food manufacturing facilities, managing the manufacturing process and the day-to-day running of the sites. The Factory Manager is to ensure the company strategy is followed and business objectives are met; it is their duty to train, supervise, and manage production. The Factory Manager will have an interest and passion for food and processing.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Oversee two fast-growing food manufacturing facilities, managing a growing team consisting of the production manager and shift managers.
2. Meeting production targets and liaising with Senior Management regarding planning.
3. Responsible for managing daily functions, streamlining processes, reducing waste, and increasing productivity.
4. People management and motivation to create a flexible, effective and multi-skilled workforce across all disciplines.
5. Provide training and resources to ensure production teams understand safety protocols.
6. A good people manager with the drive and strength of character to build and sustain a cohesive team, leading by example and encouraging success.
7. Able to identify, prioritise and delegate actions maximising available resources ensuring effective management of workload.
8. Develop and sustain a culture of mutual respect, teamwork, and professionalism, demonstrating active support in the Company's values, behaviours, policies, and procedures.
9. Prepare production reports for senior management/directors.
Key Requirements:
1. Experience of leading a team to achieve positive results.
2. Good knowledge of technical Health & Safety requirements and demonstrated leadership of safety initiatives. Experience of promoting a 'safety first' culture.
3. Excellent leadership and coaching skills.
4. Demonstrable application of problem-solving tools and techniques to deliver efficiency improvement.
5. Able to implement and drive performance improvement using lean tools, KPIs and visual management.
6. Confident decision maker who understands the commercial implications of decisions.
7. Effective team player.
8. Proven track record of delivering performance improvements.
9. Previous managerial experience, with knowledge and experience of HR processes.
10. Food safety qualification level 3 and above.
11. HACCP level 3.
12. Knowledge and experience of external audits.
13. People management qualification to level 5 or higher e.g. ILM or NVQ.
14. Continuous Improvement qualification / experience in Lean / Toyota.
Hours of Work:
Monday to Thursday - 08:00am - 16:30pm / Friday 08:00am - 15:30pm (may need to show flexibility with alternative shifts in line with business needs).
