This vacancy is for an Apprentice Repair Technician based in Blackburn.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to undertake valuable work experience and support the Electrical department within the company whilst gaining on-the-job qualifications.
JOB SUMMARY
To train as an Electrical / Electronic Repair Technician, to undertake a structured training program, to gain the required skills and knowledge to complete the service and repair of Industrial Controls, (i.e. industrial grade PCBs, timers, counters, PLCs, drives, monitors and temperature & process controls). You will observe and learn how to use the Radiant Spectrum (Management System) for recording and communication purposes and processing work orders. You will learn how to use a range of test equipment (oscilloscope, multi–meter, function generator) and test fixtures. Learn how to read, interpret and follow electrical wiring diagrams to facilitate fault analysis and product repair.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* As an Apprentice Technician, you will be expected to learn each task throughout the Production life cycle and be able to demonstrate your full understanding of each process. All training will be recorded on the Management Reporting System (MRS) as confirmation.
* Observe, learn and understand a wide range of engineering skills while under the instruction of skilled technical staff.
* Demonstrate these skills and processes as the training progresses by working independently or with a team.
* Undertake and successfully complete a suitable college course throughout the training period, achieving the academic grades and practical skills in order to entitle yearly progression leading to the award of BTEC Level 3 in Electrical Engineering, with Electronics.
* Learn and understand the importance of Health & Safety within the workshop and college.
* Learn how to maintain the workshop equipment to a high standard of repair.
* Maintain and ensure good housekeeping of the workplace and test areas.
* Maintain a smart appearance and act in a professional manner at all times both in work and at college.
METRICS
Demonstrate an understanding of the processes, completing assignments accurately and efficiently, ensuring neatness and a high quality of work. Record all information pertaining to the assignments and completion of work alongside the logbook maintained at college.
Training to be provided
* Extended Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering NVQ L3
* Diploma in Engineering L3
* Functional Skills in English, Mathematics L2 (if not already achieved)
