What you’ll be doing As a Junior Actuarial Analyst, you will report into our SME Squad and provide actuarial technical expertise, producing insightful analysis and recommendations to the managers and internal partners. Within the Reporting Team you’ll be designing, building and testing the various tools and analytics suites used for reporting the reserves. Support on specific broad and complex tasks and projects in a pro-active, and accurate manner, providing insights; support specialised investigations, produce reports and contribute to the delivery of presentations to internal partners and Committees. Consolidation of results across products to build aggregated reports and diagnostics. Analysis of the aggregated data to highlight macro trends and insights. Development of best practice models for reserving, ensuring that these use appropriate techniques and data and ensuring efficiency and quality. Awareness of technological progress and consideration of new tools. Suggest and implement improvements to streamline tasks and processes. Work within the control framework, ensuring the documentation of assumptions and methods and the integrity of data at each stage of work; including validations; structuring; cleansing; manipulation; and reconciliations. Work with peers in other areas of the business to help communicate the work carried out by Corporate Actuarial, and to build individual knowledge of wider company processes. Maintain awareness of, and comply on an ongoing basis, with the requirements of relevant professional/legal/regulatory/risk management frameworks, e.g. Technical Actuarial Standards, IPL, SOX, PRAIS, SII & UK GAAP requirements. Reinforce the culture and core values of Direct Line Group through appropriate behaviours and actions; Build relationships and business network with colleagues in other departments. What you’ll need • Either a Graduate with a numerate degree or a Part-qualified actuary showing good progression through the exams • Analytically and technically minded • Advanced Excel skills. Experience of Power tools are desirable • Programming (Python, SQL, R), reserving and capital software experiences are desirable • Experience of Visualisation suites such as PowerBI or Tableau are desirable.
