Are you an experienced commercial leader with a passion for infrastructure and highway projects? We are looking for a Highway Commercial Manager to join our Highway Operations Service. This role is crucial in providing commercial leadership and managing supply chain strategies to ensure cost-effective and efficient delivery of highway projects.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead the commercial team within the Highway Operations Service, supporting the delivery of construction, maintenance, and related tasks on the highway network.
2. Develop and implement commercial and supply chain strategies that ensure financial sustainability and value for money.
3. Manage contracts and frameworks, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and resolving disputes.
4. Provide expert advice on estimating, risk management, and early contractor involvement to de-risk projects.
5. Monitor cost performance and implement efficiencies to improve service delivery.
6. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including senior managers, directors, and supply chain leaders.
7. Promote a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and sustainability within the team.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
1. Significant managerial experience in a related field, with a proven track record of leading large commercial teams in a construction or highway maintenance environment.
2. Extensive experience in designing and implementing commercial strategies to achieve strategic goals.
3. Strong understanding of the NEC Suite of contracts and local government financial procedures.
4. Ability to manage business plans, financial analysis, and risk management at both business and project levels.
5. Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
Desirable Qualifications:
1. Relevant professional qualification in a related field.
2. Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
3. NEC Accreditation.
4. Experience in a political environment and working with trade unions.
