Senior Quantity Surveyor

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a pivotal role in managing and overseeing the commercial aspects of projects across multiple locations in the UK. You will be responsible for the efficient management of costs, contract administration, and the overall financial success of the projects, while maximizing value and ensuring compliance with company policies. You will be expected to provide leadership to the commercial team and manage relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
What You'll be doing:
* Working collaboratively with clients, company managers and supervisors and where appropriate provide commercial support and assist with embedding commercial awareness across the company
* Provision of commercial reports in a timely manner as required by main clients and the board including cost and value reporting on projects
* Estimating on various schemes
* Accurate forecasting of cost and value on projects and individual jobs
* Producing annual cost to complete models for key framework clients
* Producing specific cost to completes including phasing of associated spend vs programme for larger value/complex schemes
* Supporting the identification and management of financial and commercial risk
* Assisting with the controlling of costs, maximising value and minimizing future liabilities
* Assisting in capitalizing on cost reduction opportunities and measuring these benefits and reporting to the Management team and board
* In house self assurance and cost auditing to ensure cost accuracy
* Ensuring all relevant cost information is complete and work closely with site teams to ensure an audit trail is in place prior to invoicing
* Attendance and response to key client commercial audits
* Carrying out month end cost reporting to required deadlines
* Sourcing of high quality/best value subcontractors and setting up of robust subcontract orders where required
* Reviewing contract wording with commercial team and formulate suitable Purchase Order/Quotation/Subcontract order Terms and conditions and liaise with suppliers/clients to ensure T's and C's are signed up to and PSS is suitably protected. Update these as required
* Contract Administration including raising early warnings/variations and provision of supporting information as required
* Support the company position in times of commercial and financial dispute including acting as mediator in the resolution of contractual and financial disputes, escalating where necessary
* Working as an integral part of the tender team when bidding for new tenders
* An element of business development and growth working to win new clients and build relationships with existing
* Final account preparation.
* Attending meetings and undertake site visits.
* Responsible for the management and development of junior members of the team.
What you'll need to bring:
* Relevant Commercial/Quantity Surveying qualifications
* Good Understanding of contracts including experience working on NEC and /or JCT contracts
* Awareness of relevant construction and contract law
* Commercial Acumen
* Proficient on MS Excel and other relevant MS Office tools
* Familiar with working in a construction, utilities or energy business
* Willingness to travel within the UK on behalf of the business (work around Rochford, Stowmarket & Cornwall)
* Able to manage and mitigate commercial disputes
* Full UK Driving licence
* CSCS Card (desirable)
* Trenchless/lining experience & Or Civils experience in Construction, utilities or energy industry (desirable)
