Applications are invited for individuals pursing a Band 3 Healthcare Assistant position within Ophthalmology Outpatients. We are looking for an HCA who wishes to develop their skills to work within our busy ophthalmic outpatient department.
You will be required to work across both sites, Royal Derby Hospital and Florence Nightingale Community Hospital on a rota basis.
Working hours:- Monday - Friday between 08:00 -18:00. You must be flexible with days of work and start and finish times.
A visit to the department is actively encouraged.
Following Induction and relevant training and self direct learning,
• Obtain & document correct visual acuity, IOP and instil eye medication accordingly.
• Communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, their relatives, and members of the team by utilising a range of communication methods.
• Assist and support the team in the delivery of patient care, assessments, and documentation of patient care.
• Organise clinics and their workload whilst demonstrating effective time management and prioritisation of patient needs.
• Obtain relevant patient assessments, history taking and medical images.
• Assist in our AMD service and injection service in the treatment room.
• Assist within the Minor Ops Procedure room.
• Extended roles e.g., stock ordering, chaperone, cleaning/stocking of the clinic rooms.

Essentially:-You will have experience in an acute UK Healthcare setting and a minimum of NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care of Adults or equivalent.
Desirably:-You will have clinical skills such as venepuncture, cannulation & ECG.
