Assistant Accountant - Based in Langley, Slough
Salary guide: £27,000 - £29,800, depending on experience + 26 day holiday + pension
Initially fully office based Monday to Friday (long term potential for working from home 1 day per week after full training)

Gleeson Recruitment Group have been asked to support this key client as they seek an Assistant Accountant in this newly created role, to support the Finance team and directly report to the Finance Officer. Our client is very proud of their achievements and is a growing educational trust that manages a small group of local schools.
As the Assistant Accountant, your role will be varied and interesting. Ideally, you will have some recent Accounts Payable (AP) or Accounts Receivable (AR) experience and be keen to learn and take on more responsibilities as the role develops!
Your main responsibilities will include:
1. Accounts Payable - matching invoices against purchase orders, supplier statement reconciliations
2. Receipting and distribution of goods and services
3. Assisting with payroll; banking; invoices, cheques, and expenses
4. Responsible for sales invoices
5. Assisting the Finance Manager with month-end, ensuring all transactional processes are completed prior to the Management Accounts being completed
6. Banking any cash as and when required
7. Process and reconcile credit card transactions
8. Systems - IRIS, Excel, Word, Outlook
The successful Assistant Accountant candidate will have:
1. Previous and recent UK experience in transactional finance work
2. Potentially have worked in an educational and not-for-profit setting previously (but not essential)
3. Hands-on and assertive approach, with superb communication skills and high attention to detail
4. Ability to multi-task with ease
5. Strong team player who can support anyone in the team when needed
