We're looking for a Business Controls Manager, based at our Capenhurst Site location. You'll be accountable for leading the provision of a quality Business Controls service to UNS, including leading the production of the Budget and Business Plan, ensuring the right inputs are generated and a baseline from which to measure the business performance and resources is developed.
Develop, implement, and maintain appropriate programme level governance processes and procedures in order to support compliance with Urenco governance requirements, whilst ensuring that reporting is clear and at appropriate levels for the required meetings/committees.
Provide leadership to the Support Functions (Resource & Work Planners and the administration team) to ensure that the team is adequately trained and sufficiently skilled to deliver the services required for the organisation.
Is a member of the UNS wider Management team, providing input into strategic direction for the business and overseeing delivery against business strategy. Leads the Business Controls team and sets clear goals and objectives to support delivery against plan.

What you'll do:
1. Manage the generation of the UNS Budget and Business Plan, ensuring that key assumptions, resources, work packages, and revenues are developed with the relevant departments and recorded for a basis of performance measurement.
2. Challenge the output from the Investment Plan, Budget, and Business Plan process to ensure deliverability within the resource pool of UNS, and work with Finance to ensure that variances against previous plans are analysed and understood.
3. Manage the LE input process for UNS and be the point of contact for Finance for generating underpinning assumptions, reviewing, and analysing any variances and changes to previous submissions.
4. Review on behalf of the UNS Lead Team the overall position for UNS and provide recommendations as to improvement actions required, or areas for further review prior to the budget being finalised.
5. Manage the Business and Work Packages Planners to support the development of robust processes and procedures for the generation of the UNS Resource Plan and UNS Works Plans for Waste, Engineering, and Projects.
6. Develop an underpinned baseline plan in support of the Budgeting process and manage the team to ensure that forecasts are live, up to date, and fed into the reporting processes.
7. Ensure compliance with all relevant Group Governance Procedures relating to Commercial activities through the implementation and oversight of a tracking system.
8. Manage the process for the development of CEP/DEPs within UNS, through the maintenance of the CEP tracker, ensuring clear roles and responsibilities, and that all stakeholders are identified and engaged during the process.
9. Manage the team to develop right-first-time proposals and ensure that all aspects of the business case are considered and accurately recorded in line with Urenco Group Procedure.
10. Actively work with the UNS team during the development of the proposals and be the point of contact with the Group Capital Controller to coordinate feedback and LFE.
11. Develop, manage, and maintain the processes to control the Business Change Control, to adequately record and control movements from the UNS budget and Business Plan.
12. Custodian of the Business Risk management process within UNS.
13. Develop and manage the risk process to ensure alignment with URENCO Group global processes, whilst remaining appropriate and applicable to the UNS business model.
14. Develop and manage a dynamic way to monitor and measure the overall performance of contingency management within all UNS Work packages/Projects.
What do you need to thrive in this role?
1. Educated to Degree level in a business/project management related course or equivalent and/or strong experience in a similar management role in a complex environment.
2. Professional project management qualifications, e.g. APM PMQ or equivalent.
3. Experience in coordinating multiple complex tasks whilst maintaining strong communication throughout.
4. Knowledge and understanding of SAP data management system.
5. Highly proficient in the use of Excel and other relevant software.
6. Highly IT literate in programmes including MS Office and scheduling software such as Primavera/MS Project.
7. Exceptional attention to detail such that there is a consistently high level of data input accuracy.
8. Well-developed planning, coordinating, and organising skills.
9. Excellent communication and customer liaison skills to be able to identify and understand requirements and to provide a quality customer service.
10. Ability to become rapidly familiar with company and departmental software to enable accurate input, manipulation, and extraction of data.
11. Ability to recognise and resolve problems in own area of work/other related areas to make positive contributions to their resolution.
12. Awareness of the Urenco group business plan and commercially focused.
13. Good oral, written, and presentation skills in order to communicate effectively at all levels within the organisation and with day-to-day external contacts.
14. Basic knowledge of continuous improvement systems and tools.
15. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to write clear and concise instructions.
16. Sound knowledge and understanding of relevant health, safety and environmental regulatory requirements.
17. Ability to interpret complex data and support the development of resource plans and strategies.
