The role
The Finance Manager is a crucial member of the finance team within the charity’s operations. Reporting to the Head of Finance and managing a Finance Assistant, the Finance Manager will assist in ensuring the integrity of the financial reporting systems, treasury management, and the processes of accounts payable and accounts receivable. The role supports the charity, its staff, and Trustees in ensuring that all transactions are booked correctly and on time and manage the accounting function within the charity.
The Finance Manager will assist in maintaining high standards of professional competence and integrity in the finance team and play a pivotal role in supporting the Head of Finance in running the finance department.
Responsibilities
1. Oversight of the integrity and accuracy of the general ledger
2. Responsibility for internal controls; prompt reconciliations of control accounts, separation of duties, and compliance with prescribed systems of authorisation
3. Management and oversight of reconciliation of all bank accounts, recording sign off and checks to meet audit requirements
4. Management of purchasing cards
5. Management of cash flow and preparation of monthly reconciliations between forecast and actual
6. Month end processes and journals
7. Management of the purchase ledger, including expenses
8. Manage the fixed asset register
9. Monitoring and submission of payroll, including activation of joiners and deactivation of leavers in the payroll, pensions and life assurance portals and processing of P60's & P11D's
10. Monitoring and oversight of group pension scheme including upload of pension payments to portal, reconciliation of account and routine reviews required by The Pensions Regulator
11. Assisting with the production of year end statutory accounts and the external audit process
12. Ad hoc projects as required by the Head of Finance
