Job summary
We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic, and highly motivated Senior Theatre Assistant to join our Ophthalmology Department.

Main duties of the job
1. You will provide support and assistance within the operating department teams.
2. You will contribute to the support and care of patients under the direction of registered clinical team members.
3. This is a patient-focused role, where you will collect patients for theatre and assist registered staff to prepare them for surgery.
4. You will support theatre activities by providing patient care and assisting the scrub practitioner with necessary surgical equipment.

Person Specification
Experience
* Essential: Previous experience in a health setting, professionalism, basic IT skills.
* Desirable: Experience in an acute setting, theatre experience.
Qualifications
* Essential: Care certificate, evidence of completed competencies, NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
* Desirable: Evidence of functional skills or willingness to undertake, willingness to pursue further study.
Knowledge
* Essential: Awareness of patients' physical, psychological, and spiritual needs; knowledge of clinical procedures and observations.
* Desirable: Understanding of risk management, health and safety, including manual handling.
Skills
* Essential: Excellent communication, teamwork, ability to handle stressful situations maturely.
* Desirable: Ability to support junior staff.
