An exciting opportunity has arisen at our established and busy GP practice for an enthusiastic receptionist to join our friendly team, for a fixed term on maternity cover.
We are a SystmOne practice. Experience as a GP receptionist is highly desirable, although it is not essential as training can be provided.
Main duties of the job
The main responsibilities of the post-holder will be to receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient, and effective way.

Job responsibilities
Main Duties / Key Tasks:
Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the practice.
Provide carenavigation/signposting of patients.
Receive and make telephone calls as required.
Liaise with other clinical staff including district nurses, health visitors, etc.
To work in accordance with practice protocols.
Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow up appointments.
Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover and ensure procedures are followed.
Enter requestsfor appointments, tasks, general queries into clinical systems, ensuring to carefully record allrelevant details and referring to doctor where necessary.
Ensureefficient running of appointment system and monitor flow of patients intotreatment/consulting rooms.

Essential
1. Good IT knowledge and skills.
2. Experience in a patient or customer service environment.
3. Excellent listening, written and interpersonal skills with both staff, patients and other healthcare professionals.
4. Friendly, approachable, flexible manner.
5. Excellent attention to detail.
Desirable
6. Experience of working in General Practice, NHS, Social Care or similar environment.
7. Experience of SystmOne.
8. Highly responsive and able to adapt to what is required.
9. Thrives in a fast paced working organisation
