Solar O&M Engineer

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Solar O&M Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining our solar energy systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Take primary responsibility for solar plant performance, optimisation of the site and maintaining equipment availability
* Perform pre-planned and reactive maintenance works across their solar farms, including electrical maintenance, solar panel cleaning (occasionally) and support the HV team
* Effectively help resolve work tickets and report issues back to your line manager, and compile reports of completed works
* Liaise with internal and external teams, including in-house LV/HV personnel, the grounds team and external subcontractors when required
* Provide mentoring and training to junior technicians where required
* Take part in the company's on-call rota for non-working hours (including Bank Holidays, evenings, and weekends)
Qualifications:
* Experience in industrial, utility-scale and/or rooftop solar is preferred. However, if no solar experience, then an industrial electrician background is of interest.
* A City and Guilds or NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Electrical Engineering, Installation, Testing & Inspection or similar, electrical course
* 18th edition wiring regulations
* High Voltage Authorisation would be advantageous but not essential
* A full UK driving licence is essential due to the remote nature of the sites
Skills:
* Strong technical proficiency in electrical and mechanical systems
* Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
* Knowledgeable in basic troubleshooting and IT support
* Experienced with data entry and familiar with various operating systems, full training will be provided
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Commitment to safety and quality standards as well as incident prevention
