Family Acquisition Cluster
We are seeking a Senior Frontend Engineer for our Family Acquisition Cluster, a group of cross-functional engineers, designers, and product managers (our version of Tribes). The Family Acquisition team aims to increase the attraction and onboarding of new families. For parents and families looking to inspire and educate their children through the world of audio, our objective is to help customers build trust and improve their confidence towards taking the first step in joining the magical world of Yoto.
This role demands strong leadership in a remote-friendly environment and a proven ability to continually raise the bar of their engineering colleagues. Whether it’s through thoughtful, empathetic code reviews, continuous operational improvements, or proactive stakeholder management our Senior Frontend Engineers are essential to keeping Yoto technology world class.
What you’ll be doing:
* Be a key leader in the design and development for frontend architecture and implementation for our Family Acquisition cluster, identifying and driving innovation when necessary.
* Make significant code contributions to our system through their design and implementation.
* Serve as a technical authority and mentor for engineers within the cluster and the community of practice, providing guidance on best practices for software design, delivery, and scalability.
* Encourage high quality, performance in code contributions and adhere to coding standards.
* Help bring together frontend engineers across the company to increase knowledge sharing, reduce complexity, and improve collaboration and connected thinking.
* Work closely with senior leadership in technology, product, and throughout the entire business to provide transparency in ongoing and future work with a continual eye on where we need to be in the long term.
What you’ll need to bring:
* 5+ years of experience in designing and building e-commerce web applications (ideally at least 1 year at a “senior+” level).
* Passion for the craft and pride in the front end of the front end.
* Past experience working in a high throughput ecommerce environment (Shopify, BigCommerce, etc), preferably direct-to-customer.
* Proficiency with JavaScript, TypeScript, React, web fundamentals, an appreciation for the core craft of HTML, Javascript, CSS, A11Y, P13N, and best practices for the modern web works.
* Proficiency with JAMStack and MACH architectures; Headless CMS, Pattern Library, Front End Frameworks, Testing Libraries, etc.
* Proficiency with web performance tracking and improvement (LCP, CLS, etc) and a strong security mindset (OWASP Top 10, etc); highly adept at tackling problems with both in mind.
* Strong organisational skills and energy for sprint management, planning and preparing tasks.
* A competent communicator, adept at helping and being helped, can discuss solutions with both a technical and non-technical audience.
* An ability to understand and contribute towards software architecture and consider design decisions; you know what good looks like when it comes to building great software products.
* Open-minded and a natural cross functional collaborator (design, dev, QA, backend, etc). Ready to share your thoughts on the web development ecosystem.
What you can expect from us:
Salary: £80,000 - £90,000 based on experience. We never want to miss out on speaking to great candidates, so please don't let our banding put you off getting in touch. You never know what might be in our future plan and how well you might fit!
Flexibility: Hybrid working with a choice based approach - we would love you to come into the office as much as possible, with a minimum of once or twice a month. Take advantage of our ‘work from anywhere’ policy to work from a different location for up to 6 weeks every year. Summer Hours policy to use between the months of June and August.
