West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is able to offer the opportunity for a person to join our Band 7 team here at the St Albans City Hospital Theatre Department.
This position is for that of Band 7 Speciality Lead Theatre Practitioner for General and Breast.
The Speciality Lead Theatre Practitioner for General and Breast is reportable/accountable to the Operational Theatre Manager and will have managerial responsibility for the staff in the General/Breast scrub practitioner team at St Albans City Hospital.
The successful candidate should have management experience and knowledge within the multidisciplinary team.
The candidate should be driven, motivated and a willing team player dedicated to the provision of high standards of care, practice and safety within the Peri-operative environment.
Previous General/Breast scrub experience is required.
Ensuring the smooth effective running of the department in regards to the team.
Overall management of the teams allocation and off duty including annual leave.
Managing sickness and absence.
Coordination of the theatre department in conjunction with the Band 7 theatre team.
Stock control in relation to budget and spend.
Carrying out 1-1’s and team meetings.
Promoting high standards of patient care.

You should have a wealth of experience at Band 6 level and above. The successful applicant should be able to demonstrate the following skills:
Experience of working in an elective theatre environment with General and Breast skills.
To be able to independently scrub for a variety of complex and non-complex General and Breast cases.
The ability to lead a General and Breast operating theatre with relevant managerial attributes.
Previous managerial or leadership skills and MSPP certification are desirable but not essential.
