We Care Bespoke are looking to recruit a support worker to support with the rehabilitation of a client who has a traumatic brain injury following a road traffic accident. This role is required for Saturday and Sunday every weekend and will be 0800-1000 each day.
Key Responsibilities
1. Patient Support: Guide patient and prompt to get up out of bed each morning and encourage to perform prescribed exercises, activities, and therapies as instructed by the supervising therapist. Encourage and guide patient to maintain personal hygiene each morning and to promote independence with the option of clothing.
2. Record Keeping: Document patient progress, exercise completion, and any notable observations; report these to the supervising therapist for further action if needed.
3. Medication: Encourage patient to administer his own time-specific medication with the supervision of staff to guide if needed. You will not be expected to administer this yourself.
4. Safety Monitoring: Ensure that patient is performing exercises and activities safely, providing assistance to prevent injury.
5. Communication: Maintain open communication with client whilst prompting and encouraging to complete tasks. Be aware that patient has short-term memory issues and too much conversation can divert his attention.
Experience:
1. Previous experience in a rehabilitation or healthcare setting is preferred.
2. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
3. Ability to work with a diverse patient population with the understanding of traumatic brain injuries.
4. Physical stamina and the ability to assist patients with mobility exercises.
5. Basic knowledge of medical terminology and therapeutic techniques.
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Pay: £13.00 per hour
