Role Overview: You will play a pivotal role in contributing to the ongoing design, deployment, and management of all network elements, capacity, and traffic management necessary for the delivery of toob’s FTTH Internet Service. This a predominately a Portsmouth HQ office and field-based role requiring travel with some flexibility for home working. Juniper experience is essential for this role, JNCIA-Junos is preferable. Key Accountabilities: • Support the deployment and configuration of a range of layer 2 and 3 network elements: routers, switches, CGNAT, firewalls/VPNs, and OLT’s • Work on-site at data centre and PoP locations when necessary • Perform hands-on configuration of peering & transit connections adhering to approved Methods Of Procedure • Diagnosis and resolution of network faults, including escalations from our helpdesk and NOC teams • Collaboration with 3rd party and vendor technical support where necessary • Perform in-life operational activities of network elements, including hardware and software upgrades, security configuration and patching, and technology refresh • Provide operational assistance to all areas of Technology. What you'll bring to the role: • A minimum of 3 years’ network engineering experience within a service provider environment (preferably Tier1/2 ISP) • Experience configuring Juniper devices and command line • Working knowledge of: IPv4 and IPv6 Routing protocols (internal and external) EVPN Both MPLS and VXLAN CGNAT DHCP and DNS Subscriber management in an ISP environment • Proven experience with L2 / L3 network tools, monitoring, and troubleshooting techniques on large IPv4 and IPv6 networks • Operational knowledge and experience with GPON networks • Proven experience monitoring network performance and contributing to remedial plans addressing performance shortfalls • Ability to resolve complex problems • Demonstrable working knowledge of Network Management Systems • Strong experience with network security principles and approaches • Have the right to work in the UK without restriction • Full UK Driving Licence and access to own vehicle (travel mileage to site covered by expenses) • Working knowledge of FTTH access platforms, specifically OLT We're looking for candidates with highly effective verbal and written communication skills, who can effectively present technical information to various levels and are a collaborative team player, capable of working well with different organisations and disciplines. After an induction period you will be required to be on call, out of hours, 1 week in 4, for which you will receive additional remuneration. You should have the right to work in the UK without restrictions and have at least 2 years validity remaining on existing visas. We are unable to support sponsorship requests at this time.
