Morley Newlands Academy seek to appoint an enthusiastic and engaging Apprentice Teaching Assistant, to work under the direct instruction of teaching/senior staff, usually in the classroom with the teacher, to support access to learning for pupils and provide general support to the teacher in the management of pupils and the classroom.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
The successful candidate will be placed with the youngest pupils, supporting pupils with a wide array of needs, working on a one-to-one basis or within a small team, depending on prior experience and the individual's career aspirations.

* Administering routine tests, invigilate exams and undertake routine marking of pupils' work
* Undertaking structures and agreed learning activities/teaching programmes appropriate to the pupil's needs to ensure physical, social, emotional and intellectual development, taking into account diversity e.g. language, culture, ability, race and religion
* Supervising and supporting pupils' consistently at all times including those with special needs; recognising and responding to their individual needs whilst ensuring their safety and education in the learning environment

* Recognise when a child or a colleague is in danger or at risk of abuse and act to protect them in line with safeguarding policy and procedure.
* Apply legislation, policy and procedure to protect the health, safety and wellbeing of children in the setting (for example, food safety, diets, starting solid food, allergies, COSHH, and accidents, injuries, and emergencies).
* Apply the principles of risk assessment and risk management within documentation and practice.
* Teach children to develop skills to manage risk and maintain their own and others safety.
* Use a range of communication methods, including technology, with other professionals to meet the individual needs of the child.

Your training plan
The apprentice will be working towards the Level 3 Early Years Educator Apprenticeship Standard (Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours). Off-the-job training will be given as a minimum of 7 hours per week to complete all the necessary training, this will be delivered in the workplace.
* Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid or Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid
* End Point Assessment (EPA) - which will comprise of two assessments:
- Observation of practice in the workplace
- Portfolio-based professional discussion with an EPA external assessor
