Job Purpose
To provide electronic engineering support to the manufacturing and test departments, and support the Design Engineering team with the implementation of new products, writing Test Specifications and Test Reports. This position is estimated to last 6 to 12 months to support an ongoing project but shall be reviewed throughout the term.
Qualifications & Essential Experience
1. Engineering degree (or equivalent) in electronic engineering.
2. Experience working in an electronic test facility, ideally with sub-assembly build knowledge.
3. Practical experience with Railway / Rolling Stock electronics development.
4. Experience with control systems.
5. Experience writing test specifications and reports.
Desirable Experience
1. Experience working in an electronic design and development environment.
2. Experience in the use of Electronic CAD systems e.g. Altium PCB Designer & AutoCAD.
3. Experience and knowledge in the design for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).
4. Experience with National Instruments Lab View platform.

Principle Responsibilities & Accountabilities
1. Provide electronic systems engineering knowledge and skills to engineering projects.
2. Produce & check technical documentation including specifications, electronic design information, test plans & specifications, technical reports.
3. Test, Production and Quality Department support throughout the product cycle.
4. Produce evidence to support conformance verification to standards, including BS EN50155.
5. Support investigations into failures of electronic systems & components, determine root cause and present findings.
6. Specify test equipment and specifications to undertake measurements or monitoring of electrical & electronic systems and equipment whilst in operation.
7. Perform any other duties within capabilities, training, or experience.
8. Ability to support external compliance testing within the UK.
9. Support production installation abroad if required.

3. Ensure that investigations and reports on failed / defective components are carried out in line with policies & procedures in a timely manner.
