Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust has a vacancy for a Band 7 Finance Manager. The post holder is responsible for supporting a Senior Finance Business Partner (SFBP) in the delivery of all aspects of operational financial management within an Operational or Corporate area.
The ideal candidate will be part qualified (L7-Finalist) or have equivalent experience and be motivated to complete their professional qualifications with the support of the department.
Main duties of the job
The Finance Manager is responsible for supporting the Senior Finance Business Partner (SFBP) in the delivery of all aspects of operational financial management within an Operational or Corporate area (or combination of areas). The post holder will be a senior member of the Financial Management and service area teams, demonstrating expert accounting and business knowledge, analytical support, and clear presentation of highly complex or contentious financial and business information to clinical and non-clinical colleagues.
They will oversee the day-to-day financial management processes and transactions while supporting continuous improvement and data interrogation. The post holder is expected to work closely within their local and the wider Finance team and applicable Operational Service teams to ensure the accuracy of month-end processing and reporting.
The post holder will be supported to continue their ACCA/CIMA studies to achieve professionally qualified status.

Job responsibilities
The post holder will:
1. Be responsible for leading the delivery of timely and accurate monthly financial position ensuring that all risks and assumptions are captured appropriately.
2. Oversee and lead on ensuring accurate monthly reporting including variance analysis for an Operational or Corporate area.
3. Be responsible for managing the maintenance of key information including budgets and actuals within Expenditure, Income, and Headcount establishment.
4. Provide ad hoc budgetary advice to budget holders and their support management.
5. Support annual budget setting, service developments, CIP, and other change projects.
6. Manage 1-2 Finance Specialists and support their development and learning, aligned to the wider finance team development and improvement priorities.
7. Be responsible for delivering quality and timely monthly financial management information.
8. Work closely with the Finance hub who provide transactional support to Finance teams.
9. Be an advocate of Continuous Improvement and work closely with the wider Finance team to help implement small to medium improvement projects.
10. Be able to prioritise effectively and meet deadlines in a complex and changing work environment.
