Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Team Management
* Support the Home Manager in overseeing and coordinating the daily operations of the home.
* Lead and mentor a team of care staff to ensure they deliver high-quality, compassionate care.
* Assist in the recruitment, training, and professional development of team members.
* Act as a role model, fostering a positive and inclusive work culture.
Care Standards and Compliance
* Ensure the home adheres to all regulatory and statutory requirements, including those set by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) or equivalent governing bodies.
* Promote and maintain high standards of person-centered care, ensuring the dignity and wellbeing of residents.
* Conduct regular audits and quality assurance checks, implementing improvements where needed.
* Develop and review care plans, ensuring they meet the individual needs of residents.
Operational Support
* Deputize for the Home Manager during their absence, including managing staffing rotas and addressing operational issues.
* Oversee health and safety measures to create a safe environment for residents and staff.
* Work collaboratively with families, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless communication and care delivery.
* Manage budgets effectively, ensuring resources are used efficiently while maintaining quality standards.
Qualifications and Skills
Essential:
* Proven experience in a leadership role within a residential care setting for the elderly.
* NVQ Level 4 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent); Level 5 qualification preferred.
* Strong knowledge of CQC regulations and standards.
* Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with residents, families, and staff.
* Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
* A compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
Desirable:
* Previous experience managing a 50+ bedded care home.
* Experience with dementia care or similar specialisms.
* Knowledge of budget management and operational efficiency.
