Role Overview
As a Principal Mechanical Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
1. Responsibility for the delivery of legislative and corporate safety and engineering standards.
2. Champion and continuously improve all safety requirements, including supervision of the technical support team and contractors, Permit to Work process, risk assessments, and method statements.
3. Lead and support risk reduction initiatives (Unified Risk Management - URM).
4. Manage capital projects from feasibility to close-out, ensuring safety, cost, time, and specifications KPIs are met.
5. Lead root cause failure analysis and problem-solving efforts, ensuring actions are completed and shared with relevant parties.
6. Develop and coach teams to adhere to mechanical mill processes and standards.
7. Support company-wide programs like LEAN, OPEX, P2030 as part of the asset roadmap.
8. Transfer technical knowledge of mechanical equipment such as pumps, motors, gearboxes, etc.
9. Apply CBM methodologies to improve equipment reliability.
10. Prioritize work based on asset criticality assessments.
This role provides technical leadership within our manufacturing operations, aiming to optimize asset performance, minimize downtime, and support continuous improvement. You will report to the Mill Operations Manager and help build capability aligned with Kimberly Clark’s standards and processes.
Work Schedule & Responsibilities
The role involves a day shift schedule with support for emergency call-outs, focusing on optimizing tissue manufacturing assets, cost-saving improvements, and implementing new systems.
You will also mentor others, creating a legacy of best practices at our Barrow in Furness factory.

Qualifications include:
* BEng in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
* Experience in manufacturing, packaging, or FMCG sectors preferred.
* Knowledge of SAP and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Logical, methodical, and proactive problem solver with a quick learning ability.
