EHS Specialist
Location: Hereford
Our client is a leading manufacturer in the heavy engineering sector, producing high-performance materials for mission-critical industries, including aerospace, power generation, and defense. They are committed to operational excellence, innovation, and maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental (SHE) compliance.
As part of their continued investment in SHE improvements, they are looking to recruit an EHS Specialist to join their Hereford site. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in ensuring safety, compliance, and environmental best practices in a fast-paced and highly regulated manufacturing environment.
Role Overview:
Reporting to the Site EHS Lead, the EHS Specialist will support the development and implementation of SHE policies, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and driving a proactive safety culture. The role will involve auditing, risk assessments, training, and engaging with stakeholders across all levels to continuously improve health and safety performance.
Key Responsibilities:
* Monitor and report on the implementation of health and safety risk controls and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
* Support environmental performance improvements, liaising with management and employees to drive SHE initiatives.
* Conduct audits against EHS management systems and procedures.
* Assist in developing and improving Process Risk Assessments and Safe Working Procedures.
* Ensure compliance with corporate, company, and legislative health and safety requirements.
* Conduct accident investigations, ensuring thorough reporting and follow-up actions.
* Develop and implement lifting plans for complex, non-standard operations.
* Train and guide staff on H&S procedures, policies, and best practices.
* Engage employees at all levels to foster a culture of continuous safety improvement.
* Provide clear standards, governance, and support for SHE compliance and strategy.
* Work collaboratively with HR and Occupational Health on relevant health and safety matters.
* Stay up to date with industry standards and best practices through ongoing professional development.
Qualifications & Experience Required:
* Minimum 3-4 years of experience in a SHE role within a heavy manufacturing or engineering environment.
* Strong understanding of SHE regulations and compliance requirements.
* Hands-on experience conducting risk assessments, audits, and accident investigations.
* Proven ability to engage and influence employees at all levels.
* Knowledge of ISO management systems would be advantageous.
