As the Instrument Technician, you will be working within the Maintenance Team and reporting to the C&I Lead Engineer. The purpose of this role is to perform tasks necessary to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operation of all primary and auxiliary production equipment and utility support systems supporting operations at Royston/Brimsdown. The majority of your time will be spent on instrumentation tasks, including repairs, calibration, and testing, but will also include minor project work and assisting in additional maintenance duties where priorities require.
This role will require you to work independently and collaboratively with Maintenance and Production Shift Teams and to support the Apprentices, at times. You will be expected to report back with investigation summaries of breakdowns to your line manager, provide information to production on tasks being carried out and issues found.

Your responsibilities:
This is an exciting role within the business and the successful candidate would be responsible for the following:
1. Providing a skilled execution of Planned, Reactive & Corrective Instrumentation maintenance activities to ensure the ongoing reliability of equipment across the plant
2. Effective problem solving and electronic/electrical fault diagnosis skills, adhering to identified work priorities to ensure that customers and stakeholders are supported in their daily operational needs
3. Identifying and carrying out occasional plant modification work to help enhance plant safety and improve efficiency
4. Conducting Inspections, testing, calibration, adjustments and monitoring tasks as required to maintain efficient plant and build-in equipment reliability.
5. Updating the CMMS with work progress and demanding spares as required for work tasks and/or to maintain critical stock levels.
6. Cooperating and collaborating with other team members to continually drive our proactive engineering programme, participate in failure investigations, identify and report back reliability issues within the plant
7. Supporting the projects teams at initial design stages to offer advice on the correct selection of plant and equipment to ensure improved levels of future plant reliability and maintainability
8. Interpreting technical drawings for planning, executing and specifying material to support job duties
9. Ensuring that all relevant departmental administrative requirements such as: time sheets, work orders (WMO), stores purchase requisitions, etc. are completed to ensure concise work history and financial accountability
10. Carrying out statutory and other testing on site to help maintain both ISO 9001 & ISO14001 accreditation
11. Taking ownership of your own training and development plans to ensure continued development of your own skills and expertise, undertaking additional training skills when required to keep abreast of technology changes, and the changing needs of the business
12. Issuing of permits and control of contractors
13. Adherence to Life Saving Policies and Management of Change procedures
You will be required to work a 12-hour day shift pattern which includes weekends on a rotation of 5 days on followed by 4 days off in rotation. You may be asked to work outside of normal working hours during particularly busy periods such as the annual Stocktake period in April/May, which also requires adherence to a holiday restriction whilst the Stocktake is being undertaken.
Requirements for the role:
14. An Electronic/Control based qualification to HNC level
15. ECI experience in a manufacturing / chemical industry within a maintenance function
16. Experience of working with Profibus networking would be an advantage (Desirable)
17. Experience in HV Networks (Desirable)
18. Experience in computerized maintenance management system (Desirable)
19. Experience of large scale complex manufacturing facilities/plants (Desirable)
20. Experience of structured problem solving techniques (Desirable)
21. Ability to read and comprehend basic electrical and mechanical drawings (Desirable)
22. Exposure to a LEAN approach to manufacturing (Desirable)
