Joining our established and expanding Nuclear team as a Principal EC&I Engineer means engaging in a diverse and growing array of both international and UK-based projects. This role offers the chance to participate in multi-disciplinary projects at various stages of the lifecycle, from client consultancy to comprehensive turn-key solutions. Your responsibilities will extend to client interaction, crafting bids and proposals, and overseeing project delivery in line with AECOM's standards for quality, safety, and environmental care.
Here's what you'll do:
1. You will be responsible for delivery of EC&I design & engineering, including the production of design documentation, design substantiation, as well as checking and approval of the work of other engineers & designers.
2. Lead, mentor and develop a team capable of growing the EC&I business.
3. Perform specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
4. Gather and correlate basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
5. Work on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
6. Propose approaches to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
7. Identify discrepancies in results.
8. Provide guidance to entry-level engineers.
9. Perform work in accordance with agreed-upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
10. Independently perform all tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works.
Qualifications
The successful Engineer will have/be:
1. Qualified to a minimum of HNC level and preferably have a good relevant engineering degree.
2. Chartered Engineering or Incorporated Engineer or on your way to be.
3. Extensive relevant experience and be able to demonstrate sound technical knowledge and leadership experience.
4. Functional Design Specification, Basis of Design & User Requirement Specification production.
5. Document and Drawing checking and approval.
6. An appreciation of mechanical/civil and process systems and the aptitude to work within a multi-disciplinary team.
7. Deliver project deliverables within timescales, budget constraints, and quality expectations.
8. Manage the workload and technical aspects for large and small teams.
9. Experience of leading multi-disciplinary bid teams.
10. Liaison with clients, suppliers, and contractors.
11. Assisting in recruitment activities.
12. Risk and quality management.
13. A working knowledge of BS7671.
14. Low Voltage Electrical Distribution Design.
15. Building Services design.
16. Control system design.
17. Design of conventional instrumentation systems (loop diagrams, instrument schedules, etc.).
18. Control panel design (GA's, schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, parts lists, etc.).
Preferred Additional Qualifications / Skills
1. Nuclear experience is an advantage but not essential.
2. Project management skills.
3. Experience of commissioning electrical and control systems.
4. Knowledge of safety standards (IEC 61508, 61511, 61513).
5. Medium/High Voltage Electrical Distribution Design.
6. Fulfill all responsibilities for Health and Safety in Design.
