The Haematology and Blood Transfusion Service have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and dynamic individual to join our team as a Senior Biomedical Scientist (Band 7) working across all three of our laboratory sites.
The department has state of the art equipment and technology and prides itself on being forward thinking and innovative. It also has a proven track record in staff training/development and the successful candidate must be equally committed to promotion of continuous development and quality improvement. We currently hold full UKAS accreditation status.
The post involves working in both Haematology and Blood Transfusion as part of the senior team. The department is looking for an individual who has knowledge in both areas but a particular passion for Blood Transfusion Science. Experience of quality management/audit and training would also be advantageous.

Main duties of the job
In this role you will be part of a team of senior biomedical scientists and technical managers who manage and co-ordinate the day to day technical activities of the Haematology and Blood Transfusion laboratories.
You will have developed knowledge, experience and competency in specialised diagnostic techniques in both Haematology and Blood Transfusion and you must be a Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered Biomedical Scientist. This is an interesting and challenging role working in a dynamic environment and will suit individuals who are able to use their initiative to support a high quality service.

Qualifications
* BSc in Biomedical Sciences or equivalent and Professional Registration (HCPC)
* MSc or Higher Specialist Portfolio in Haematology and/or Blood Transfusion
* BBTS Specialist Certificate in Transfusion Science Practice or equivalent
Experience
* Substantial specialist training and in depth experience of modern laboratory techniques
