Special Needs Support Assistant
Location: Walsall
Duration: Full time, on-going
Salary: £85 – £95 per day
The School/role:
An amazing special needs school in Walsall is currently looking for a full-time special needs support assistant to work within one of their many classes for ages ranging from 2 to 19 years old. The school is a community special school with students with cognition and learning difficulties in addition to physical disabilities and complex health needs. They aim to provide a secure environment where all the children’s individual needs are recognized and catered for.
This role will include supporting teachers with material preparation for lessons, assisting with displays, and providing direct 1 on 1 or small group student support. The special needs support assistant will have experience supporting students either 1 on 1 or within small groups with their reading, writing, or maths depending on the situation. PECS and Makaton training or experience would be suitable for this role but is not necessary. This is a full-time post and will run until the end of the academic year.
The candidate for this role will be comfortable supporting SEN children alongside children with a range of different academic attainment levels. This will require patience, commitment, and the ability to provide a safe and welcoming environment.

Requirements:
* Qualified Teaching Assistant OR Relevant background
* Experience in SEN
* Immediately available
* Level 1 safeguarding certificate
* Relevant school-based references
* Valid Photo ID – Driving Licence or passport
* Full DBS – on the update service
