COSLA is seeking a dynamic and experienced Public Affairs Manager to lead our communications strategy and enhance our public affairs and influencing efforts. Reporting to a Chief Officer/the Head of Media and Communications, this important role will involve acting as a key source of advice on external communications and lobbying while managing COSLA's proactive and reactive media work. You will work collaboratively with policy colleagues to develop effective external messaging across a wide range of policy areas. In addition, you will play a lead role in the development and delivery of key proactive communications campaigns, including our 50th Anniversary celebration and the Manifesto for the upcoming Holyrood elections.
In this role, you will also play a significant part in developing and implementing our internal communications strategy, ensuring that our messaging is cohesive and impactful. You will provide line management support to the Comms and Media Policy Assistant fostering a collaborative working environment. Ideally you will have significant experience in leading public affairs and communications, preferably in a Scottish context.
This post is politically restricted in accordance with COSLA's Politically Restricted Posts Policy. It is a fixed term position for 12 months, and you may occasionally be required to work antisocial hours, including evenings and weekends, to respond to media requests. We welcome applications on a part-time or secondment basis.
