Wilson Tool International provides the most comprehensive line of tooling systems and accessories for the Punching and Bending markets. At our European head office located in South Marston, Swindon, we are currently seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer.
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be working with a cross functional Engineering delivery team, to support & run various projects from initial concept, through to production, driving innovation and operational excellence within the team. This role objective is to ensure technical support to production and the business in general.
This role will be working on our day shift, 8am – 4pm (Monday – Thursday) and 8am to 3pm (Friday), 39 hours per week.
Key accountabilities
1. Insourcing of manufactured products
2. Process Improvements through new tool technology or machining methods
3. Master Data (Part Numbers / Bill of Materials / Routing Management)
4. Drawing Revisions/Vault maintenance (using Solidworks/PDM)
5. Small capital equipment – Identify and source
6. Costings – Look at current products and cost accordingly.
7. Production Engineering Support, including:
1. Work with operators and shop floor staff to provide technical support.
2. Developing documentation and procedures for various manufacturing processes.
3. Creation of routing sheets
4. Completion of work studies.
5. Creation of production layouts
6. Tooling specifications & trials.
7. Cost Reductions through process improvements
8. Market research
8. Justification of new capital equipment, including:
1. Identify potential new equipment and produce justification.
2. Conduct trials on new equipment.
3. Investigate possibilities of new technology and manufacturing methods.
9. Introduction of new products:
1. Sourcing and assessing suppliers and setting up the supply chain.
2. Sourcing of equipment and tools required in the manufacture/assembly of new products.
3. Design & order work holding/fixturing.
4. Project management to ensure a smooth and trouble-free introduction of new products to production.
5. Liaise and provide training and support to both the sales desk and sales engineers on new products.
Person Specification
1. Experience with knowledge and understanding of a modern CNC workshop in a production engineering support role.
2. Experience in the following engineering disciplines, Multi Axis milling & turning, Surface & cylindrical grinding & EDM.
3. Good understanding of manufacturing principles and processes.
4. HNC in Mechanical Engineering (or similar) - desirable
5. Ability to lead projects.
6. Experience of report writing.
7. Advance Microsoft PC Skills.
8. Excellent presentation skills.
9. A motivated and innovative self-starter.
10. Effective problem-solving skills.
11. Strong Communication skills, both verbal and written.
12. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
13. A methodical approach.
