Job Title: Teaching Assistant for Alternative Provision
Location: Plymouth, Devon
Job Type: Full-time/Part-time
We are currently seeking compassionate and driven Teaching Assistants to join our dedicated team within the alternative provision sector in Plymouth, Devon. This role is perfect for individuals passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people who require educational support outside of the mainstream environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with various educational needs within an alternative provision setting.
2. Work with teachers to develop and deliver project-based learning activities that engage and inspire students.
3. Deliver outreach support in the community, engaging with students who may be struggling with traditional education settings.
4. Assist in the creation and implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) tailored to meet the needs of each student.
5. Utilise a variety of teaching resources and technologies to enhance the learning experience.
6. Monitor and evaluate students’ progress, providing feedback and adapting strategies as necessary.
7. Act as a positive role model, mentor, and guide to students, fostering a safe and supportive learning environment.
8. Collaborate with other staff, parents, and external agencies to support the welfare and development of students.
9. Attend and contribute to team meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
Requirements:
1. Experience working within an educational setting, alternative provision, or with students with additional needs is highly desirable.
2. Must hold a clean and valid driving license with access to a vehicle, as the role involves outreach work in the community.
3. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport and trust with students and colleagues.
4. Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing needs and circumstances.
5. Demonstrated commitment to supporting inclusion and diversity in education.
6. Relevant qualifications in education or teaching assistance (e.g., NVQ, CACHE, or equivalent) are preferred but not essential.
7. An understanding of safeguarding procedures and commitment to safeguarding the welfare of children and young people.
