Main duties of the job
The Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) is based at The Northumbria Hospital and is a level one neonatal unit, comprising of 12 special care cots. It supports a busy, high-risk obstetric Maternity unit. We provide high dependency care and stabilize infants requiring intensive care prior to transfer. SCBU has an established innovative staffing model with an Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (ANNP) delivered service on site. For over twenty years, our existing ANNPs have had clinical responsibility and leadership of the neonatal unit with support from the Consultant Paediatricians.
We have a range of shifts 7 days per week including day shifts, early shifts, late shifts, twilight, nights, and weekends. With bank, you can pick and choose shifts that suit you.
The role is to provide high standards of care to patients accessing our services. You will need to embrace our trust values, demonstrate excellent communication skills, and have a flexible approach to your work.
Job responsibilities
* To assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care working as a member of the ward team under the direction of the Ward Manager.
* To exercise accountability as set out in the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
* To be responsible for all nursing care standards and to maintain high clinical standards.
* To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates teamwork and collaboration within teams/departments and across organizational boundaries.

Qualifications
* 1st Level live NMC registered Nurse
* Evidence of qualification to undertake the supervision, teaching, and assessing of students (essential requirement for post, expectation this will be completed within an 18-month period).

Salary: £29,970 to £36,483 a year pro rata per annum
