Join our OFE Flexible Pipe Systems team.
The Flexible Pipe System (FPS) Offshore business within Baker Hughes is a leading industry supplier of unbonded flexible pipelines to API 17J with a 25+ year track record in the supply of flexible pipeline riser and flowline system globally to a range of international customers.

This role is within the UK materials team located at our Newcastle facility but is expected to support the project execution and bidding teams and to also form strong links with both the Brazil-based materials team and the wider Technology and Supply chain organization across both of our manufacturing sites and our engineering office in Houston.
As a Materials Engineer, you will be responsible for:
* Participating in core business bid kick-off meetings and project handover meetings to facilitate knowledge transfer of industry requirements.
* Undertaking technical review and assessment of customer materials specifications providing comments, clarifications and identified risks as and when required.
* Responding, under guidance, to materials technology queries and clarifications as and when required by both internal and external customers.
* Generating, under guidance, material qualification documents, procurement specifications, and technical reports related to the full product material range.
* Providing general technology support to non-local operations and, as required, act as a materials consultancy service to internal & external customers.
* Participating, under guidance, in investigation, analysis, and reporting of product and process failures in support of both internal/external customers.
* Existing Vendor technical support, developing and maintaining technical liaison with vendors as part of continuous improvement including responses to vendor material technology queries and clarifications as and when required.
Fuel your passion
To be successful in this role you will:
* Have a BSc in Materials Science or a related Engineering degree with specialization in Materials, Metallurgy or Polymer science through formal post-graduate education or college qualification, formal training and experiential learning.
* Have worked at an engineering level, demonstrating an increased level of engineering practice and responsibility, development of others and showing leadership.
* Be able to show the ability to work to a schedule and conduct work which may involve conflicting project requirements.
* Be a creative thinker to identify near-term material development solutions.
* Have good organizational skills with the ability to directly inform and instruct Engineers, Technicians, and other employees of specific engineering and HSEQ requirements.
* Have the ability to work within a team environment with a team of high-level Engineers.
