Kinetic Academy is an independent special educational needs school. We provide education for pupils in the age range 9-16 who have a range of SEN needs including ASD, Speech, Language & communication Needs and/or Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties.
We highly value all of our students and create a positive, safe and secure environment for them to learn. We are immediately seeking experienced Student Support Officers who have a passion, commitment and talent for working with young people.
The successful person in the role will :-
1. Work intensively with a small number of young people accessing education at Kinetic Academy, both on a one to one and group work basis, under the direction of the Student Support Manager & Head of Centre.
2. Find creative opportunities for young people to grow and develop in a learning environment, addressing barriers to learning, supporting them to overcome such barriers.
3. Work within a team to provide a supportive learning environment, developing an expertise within a curriculum area.
4. Assist in the development of new resources and preparation of materials to support student learning and development in order for them to make good progress and achieve positive outcomes.
5. Support the organisation in the planning and evaluation of off-site visits, including risk assessments and health and safety checks in line with Kinetic Academy’s policy ensuring these are completed in an accurate, well documented and timely manner.
6. Provide a supervisory role/pastoral role during non-contact time whilst working as part of a team to ensure that all students are supervised during opening hours and are engaged in meaningful activities.
7. Identify, implement and manage all case management processes, including behaviour management and monitoring, absence recording and monitoring, transitional arrangements, work experience placements, RAMPS (Risk Assessment Management Plans) and any other processes that need overseeing to ensure that the student can achieve his/her agreed pathway.
8. Work within a multiagency framework to ensure that all safeguarding issues are managed to a high standard, procedures are followed, and the needs of the student are met in a timely and effective manner.
9. Regularly liaise with parents/carers, teaching staff, schools and external agencies in order to promote best practice in the educational support provided and to support positive outcomes for our students, with particular focus on your own caseload.
10. Maintain accurate support records and daily logs to factually report and record progress, incidents, behaviour and any other aspect of recording relevant to the case management of your allocated students.
11. Ensure student risk assessments are completed to a high standard and are in date.
12. Identify the financial, health and safety, equality and confidentiality or other risks associated with the post’s sphere of responsibility and to define and take positive action to manage these risks.
13. Analyse and provide monthly statistical reports in relationship to student caseload, behaviour management, incidents
14.
