Delivery Management To receive deliveries into the Pharmacy, ensuring that the driver delivery documentation is checked as correct before accepting the delivery. Some deliveries arrive on pallets, which may be up to 500kg in weight and require the use of handling equipment (Pallet Truck). To unpack deliveries and record receipt of the goods in accordance with standard procedures, confirming all batch numbers and expiry dates with invoices, input the data on the pharmacy computer system, and put the stock away to maintain the efficiency of the pharmacy stock system. When goods are received, to identify unlicensed products and to place them into quarantine awaiting approval for use. Stock Assembly To assist in the assembly of stock to wards and departments. To mark and assemble I.V. fluids for delivery to wards and departments. To accurately compute stock orders for wards and departments. To assist in ensuring work is prioritised effectively within the department. To assist with the top-up service as directed by the Technician Team manager (after appropriate training). To assist with the EDC top-up. To complete other tasks within distribution as directed by the Rotational Technician. To manage the process of medication returns within the department in a timely manner. To handle bulk fluids accurately ensuring accurate storage and handling. Communication and Record Keeping To answer the departmental telephones (when appropriate) in a prompt and courteous manner. To direct enquiries to suitable departments or individuals. To assist with tracking activities and maintaining appropriate records for audit trails. Maintain high standards of cleanliness and tidiness in all working areas. To liaise with quality control technician for any unlicensed and over labelling stock. To assist in always maintaining departmental security. Observe safe working practices to avoid placing themselves, other staff, patients or visitors at risk by their actions. To always comply with all departmental procedures. To participate in any training deemed appropriate by the Technician Team manager and to complete all compulsory training within a specified time. To maintain satisfactory personal performance and standards and to achieve, where possible, agreed objectives described in the Annual Staff Appraisal system undertaken by the line manager. To communicate and liaise with other pharmacy staff effectively and clearly.
