Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Breast and General Surgery Care Unit as Care Unit Co-ordinator. You will show good leadership and communication skills, be able to deal with complex and varied information and be flexible and compassionate to the needs of the service receivers and team members.
You will receive regular supervision and guidance from colleagues and management to support you in this role and you will be supported to develop your knowledge-base and skill. There will be opportunity to engage in varied, leadership development training within the organisation and be supported to develop your career.
You will be expected to lead, motivate and influence individuals, have excellent communication and analytical skills and be able to juggle the competing demands of the role whilst supporting the Care Unit.
The Successful Candidate Will Be Expected To Provide
* Management of administrative staff
* Support to senior clinical and management staff
* Work in cohesion with other Care Units
* Waiting list and waiting time management
* Operational coordination and problem solving

The Care Unit Co-ordinator role is an operational role where the main duties revolve around staff management of several administrative and clerical teams, as well as coordination of the Care Unit's outpatient activity to meet demand. Qualifications
Essential criteria:
* Recognised management qualification (ILM/BTEC/NVQ) or equivalent experience
* Good typing skills
Desirable criteria:
* ECDL
* Office based training such as NVQ
Experience
Essential criteria:
* Experience of managing staff and leading a team
* Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
* Previous experience of hospital PAS systems and other IT systems
* Demonstrate ability to prioritise own workload and that of others
Desirable criteria:
* Previous NHS experience
* Previous office experience
* Knowledge of HR processes
Skills
Essential criteria:
* Excellent communication skills verbal and written
* Excellent prioritisation, planning and organisation skills
* Competent with computer systems
