Job Title: Corporate Tax Assistant

Our client is a highly regarded accountancy and advisory firm with a strong presence in the North West. With a commitment to high-quality service, technical excellence, and internal development, they’re looking to strengthen their tax team with the addition of a Corporate Tax Assistant who is eager to grow and contribute.
The Role
Working within the firm’s dedicated Tax Department, you’ll support the Senior Tax Manager and wider team in delivering timely and accurate corporate tax services. This includes tax compliance, tax advisory, technical research, and direct communication with HMRC. You’ll also collaborate closely with the accounts and audit teams, giving you a well-rounded experience across functions.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Prepare corporation tax computations and returns for a variety of clients, including UK and overseas corporate groups
2. Advise clients on corporation tax payments and deadlines
3. Support the accounts and audit teams with corporate tax queries and deliverables
4. Prepare tax figures for inclusion in statutory accounts
5. Assist in preparing R&D tax relief claims and capital allowances claims
6. Handle correspondence with HMRC and third parties professionally and promptly
7. Undertake technical tax research and assist with larger advisory projects
8. Maintain and actively work on your personal development plan alongside your manager
What We’re Looking For:
1. 2–3 years’ experience preparing corporation tax computations for SMEs
2. A sound understanding of company accounts
3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
4. Strong numeracy and analytical thinking
5. Highly organised with strong time management skills
6. Motivated to learn and eager to share knowledge with the team
7. Solid IT skills – comfortable using tax software, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams
Qualifications:
1. Ideally part-qualified ACA, ACCA, or ATT
2. Full support will be provided for progression to CTA for the right candidate
