JOB PURPOSE
We are looking for an enthusiastic clinical psychologist with experience working within neuro psychology to join our friendly multi-disciplinary team at our QEF Care and Rehabilitation is a great opportunity to work with a variety of neurological conditions, providing individual, group and family-based treatments. There are also opportunities to provide staff training and consultation, making a difference to the service Care and Rehabilitation Centre provides residential specialist care for people with complex physical, sensory, cognitive and emotional difficulties and rehabilitation care and support to people who are on the stroke pathway or as part of their neurological rehab pathway by helping them to gain post holder will report to the Psychology Lead and is an important senior position within the wider structure of the QEF Care and Rehab Centre. They will be responsible to deliver psychology services to those clients who require. You will be required to work as a senior member of the multi-disciplinary team and to provide training and advice to other professionals, families and carers.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
The post holder will be passionate about working with people with neurological difficulties and their families. Good quality supervision from an experienced clinical psychologist / neuro psychologist will be provided, in addition for opportunities for CPD. This post would be suitable for a newly qualified psychologist with experience working with clients with cognitive difficulties. HCPC registration required (Newly qualified applicants to be registered by start date).

Job responsibilities
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To provide a direct psychological service to clients, conducting and interpreting a wide range of assessment procedures.
2. To provide therapeutic support to clients through group work and individual sessions.
3. To prepare detailed professional reports on client assessment and progress and make recommendations for future provision.
4. To direct and supervise the clinical work of the junior staff and psychology students in the psychology department.
5. To provide staff training/awareness/advice to colleagues on the cognitive, emotional and behavioural implications of acquired brain injury and to devise, implement and monitor strategies to facilitate learning and management of the behaviour of clients.
6. To initiate and engage in formal research projects, publishing as appropriate.
7. To conduct analysis of psychology and clinical outcomes as appropriate.
8. To support the Psychology team and members of the multi-disciplinary team, as required.
9. To advise Head of Clinical Services on the suitability of prospective clients.
10. To represent the Service at required meeting both clinical and non-clinical and giving presentations / sharing in training
11. To keep abreast of developments in the field of brain injury rehabilitation.
12. To support the team and families in planning discharges taking into account psychological and cognitive needs.
13. To assess and manage mental capacity and risk issues as appropriate in collaboration with the Lead Psychologist and wider MDT.
14. To support the team in managing the emotional impact of looking after clients with significant cognitive, communication and/or physical difficulties.

Qualifications
Essential
15. Doctoral level training in Clinical or Counselling Psychology
16. Up to date HCPC registration/ or for newly qualified clinical psychologists, due for registration once course is complete
Desirable
17. Professional qualifications and experience in any of the following: Neuropsychology, counselling, psychotherapy, or behaviour management

18. Experience working with people with cognitive impairments
19. Experienced in the use of neuropsychological assessment to inform care planning
20. Experience working with clients who people whose behaviour challenges
Desirable
21. Experience working with people who have an acquired brain injury / in a neuro-rehab setting or community-based neuro setting
22. Experience of assessing and supporting mental capacity
23. Experience working with staff teams in a residential setting
24. Experience working with families
25. Experience facilitating psycho-education or psychological therapy groups
26. Experience delivering mindfulness-based interventions
27. Experience supervising assistant psychologists

28. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
29. Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

31. Able to manage workload independently and work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
32. The ability to use and interpret specialist psychological and neuro-psychological assessment materials
33. Skills in providing consultation to other professional and nonprofessional groups
34. High level knowledge of the theory and practice of at least two specialised psychological therapies
35. Knowledge of current theoretical models and skills in working with people whose behaviour challenges
36. Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex, multivariate data analysis as practised within the clinical fields of psychology
37. Ability to contain, explore and formulate an understanding of high levels of distress both directly with patients and indirectly through consultation with other staff
38. Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPS

40. Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group
