EASTENDERS EastEnders is the multi-award-winning drama broadcast four times a week on BBC One. It currently ranks as one of the most watched TV dramas in the UK, continuing its long-standing history of tackling controversial and taboo issues previously unseen on television in the UK. Through great writing and attention to detail, the show manages to successfully balance gritty realism with high drama and entertainment to keep its millions of dedicated viewers coming back for more, on-screen and online, week after week. STORYLINER TALENT POOL The EastEnders story team is essential to the show's success. Recognised as the UK’s best Soap multiple times, we have increasingly high standards and want to work with exciting, innovative story talent whose depth of passion for EastEnders is as gripping as our stories. This talent pool is an opportunity for us to reach out and engage with people who want to work in our story team. Unfortunately, being selected for the pool doesn't mean that you will definitely end up working with us, but it does mean you will be considered when opportunities come up. This application process is designed to give you the chance to try out your skills on our storylines. If you are invited to an assessment centre you will get to meet our producers and editorial team and can showcase your work to them as well as starting to build relationships. If you are invited to work on EastEnders you will need to be based in BBC Elstree, London for the duration of the contract, or live within a commutable distance. Unfortunately we don't provide financial assistance for relocation or travel expenses. APPLICATION PROCESS You can apply for the pool by clicking the APPLY links on this page. You will be asked to answer some questions relating to your motivation for applying, background and relevant experience, and given a task to complete. We will then shortlist candidates who have the strongest skills, experience, interests and instinct. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an online assessment day which will be made up of group and individual story related tasks, and individal interviews. Assessment for this role will be during the week of the 17th of February. Unfortunately we’re not able to be flexible with this so please ensure you are available to attend before applying. STORYLINERS We're excited to hear from experienced Storyliners and those who have worked in drama script teams and feel they would be suited to the story department. Reporting in to the Story Producer and working closely with the story, research and script teams, you will be responsible for generating story ideas and storylines. Like other dramas, we work to tight deadlines and budgets and look for people who have experience of delivering against similar pressures. You will support the Story Editor to write, adjust, reword and revise the story document, helping take it from 1st draft to commissioning. You will attend story conferences, story meetings, and have a writing style that is clear, concise and unambiguous. Importantly, you will be a fan of the show and have a good knowledge of current and past storylines. We will be looking for previous experience of script editing, story editing or storylining, preferably on a long running drama. We want to see that you understand character, story and structure, and are able to suggest storylines which align with EastEnder's tone and style. If you are selected to be in the pool you will be considered when Storyliner positions come up on EastEnders. Unfortunately being in the pool does not guarantee you will end up working with us.
