Job Opportunity: Teaching Assistants (SEN & SEMH) – North Liverpool Area Start Date: January 2025 We are seeking dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistants for several North Liverpool schools. Role Overview As a Teaching Assistant, you will be a key part of the student support team, working closely with SEN and SEMH students across primary and secondary settings. Your primary goal will be to create a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment that enables all students to thrive academically and socially. Key Responsibilities Provide one-on-one or small-group support for students with SEN/SEMH requirements. Collaborate with classroom teachers, SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators), and pastoral teams to tailor support strategies. Foster a safe and positive learning environment, sensitive to each student’s individual needs. Monitor and document student progress and feedback to inform individualized learning plans. Employ de-escalation techniques and behavior management strategies as needed. Candidate Requirements We are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria: Experience : Previous experience working with SEN and/or SEMH students is essential. Educational Background : Candidates with a background in Psychology, Education, or related fields are encouraged to apply, as well as those with equivalent SEN/SEMH experience. Skillset : Strong communication and interpersonal skills; empathetic, patient, and resourceful. Certifications : An enhanced DBS check is required. Relevant training in SEN, safeguarding, or similar qualifications is highly advantageous. Desirable Attributes Familiarity with behavior management frameworks and de-escalation techniques. Experience in therapeutic or intervention work with students who have SEMH challenges. Knowledge of relevant educational tools and approaches to support SEN/SEMH students.
