Job Purpose
To support the development and delivery of insight and analysis for key business stakeholders relating to the market, driving decision making. You will contribute to this through a data-led approach evaluating key findings and trends within projects that are aligned to the corporate strategy.
Key Accountabilities
* Contribute to insight, modelling & analytics across the function and wider business providing a data led approach to decision making and strategic priorities.
* Support business stakeholders through robust and timely insight utilising latest market data and performance trends.
* Analyse and solve ad-hoc business questions to help purpose and set decision making.
* Bring market recommendations to life, through a range of interactive dashboards, reporting tools and insight papers.
* Utilise latest data, insight and analysis tools to continually evolve our learnings and recommendations.
* Deliver set projects from start to completion driving timelines and deliverables whilst reporting on build process.
* Collaborate with a team of analysts supporting on key insight projects and development opportunities.
* Maintain existing stakeholder relationships by delivering with integrity and robust findings.
How you will do it
Knowledge:
* Comfortable querying and obtaining large datasets (through SQL, Azure or equivalent).
* Capable of manipulating and transforming these datasets to ingest into a model (e.g. through Alteryx, SQL or equivalent).
* Support delivery of key actionable insight.
* Understanding of large data sets and manipulation through various techniques.
* General knowledge or background in analytical/data science modelling techniques.
* Desirable – knowledge of the retail landscape and competitive market.
* Data visualisation – PowerBi or equivalent.
Communicating and influencing:
* Support the team through clear communication of outputs and maintain clear timelines on insight deliverables.
* Capable of working with non-technical end users to interrogate a business process or current tool to understand requirements and opportunities.
* Maintain stakeholder engagement, create and scope clear project deliverables as well as setting timelines through continuous communication.
* Engage with a range of stakeholders to update on key trends and analysis of key insight projects.
* Comfortable challenging existing ways of working and working directly with peers to ensure ways of working leverage existing and new data.
Freedom to Think and Act:
* This team will have significant freedom to act. It requires the ability to problem solve, supporting the identification of opportunities and prioritisation of insight.
* Given the exploratory nature of this role, it requires an individual who is comfortable turning ambiguity into direction and decisions.
* Whilst overall business strategy is set at an exec level, this team will have autonomy within this framework to deliver as appropriate.
* This role requires the ability to support a range of solutions to a problem both internally within our function and external to insight & analytics to maximise value.
Skillsets required
Skills:
* Extracting, manipulating and interrogating large datasets to solve business problems.
* Using data to answer specific business problems identifying key insights for decision making.
* Ability to influence with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* A comprehensive knowledge of SQL or equivalent systems.
* Communicating complicated issues in an accessible manner to drive action.
* Experience with Alteryx or equivalent analytic tools.
* Data visualisation experience (PowerBI or equivalent).
Experience:
* Working cross-functionally within key projects alongside other analysts.
* Experience working with an insight/data function within a large organisation, including involvement at a project delivery level.
* Degree level qualification in a data, geography or modelling background or equivalent qualification or experience.
* Experience with analytical modelling with a range of data.
* Microsoft technology stack (Azure, Databricks).
